Another Kelly swimmer gets ticket to Athens 2004

Jakie Wellman has been called up to represent her Country in next months Olympics in Athens. Jakie was selected by FINA as one of two swimmers who will compete for Zambia and will compete in her best event, the 50m freestyle.

Jakie who is just 16, joined Kelly College last September and is no stranger to international competition. She competed in the World Cup in Durban, South Africa last December and the All-African Games in Abuja, Nigeria in October.

Jakie has been Pre-Olympic training in Cape Town as Zambia has no indoor pools and the water there is too cold at this time of the year for training. She arrived at the Olympic village in Athens on Sunday 8th August.
