Three Kelly College Students made the long journey to Nottingham to compete at this years National Open Water Championships at Holme Pierrepoint. These Championships bring the Open Water Season to a fitting end and the Kelly College Students were determined to end the season on a high note.
Matthew Henry(16) swimming in the15/16 years age group, where he had placed second last year, pulled away from the other swimmers and dominated the race from the start to become National Champion over the 1750m distance. His time of 21.34.61 was over 43 seconds faster than the second placed swimmer, Lewis Mattin of Norwich. Matthew Stacey(15) competing in the same race, finished in a very creditable 4th place.
Caroline Ball(17) competed in the 5k Ladies Open Championship and finished 7th in a time of 1 hour and 9.03 minutes.
