First ever Junior Champion

Devon County ASA Championships 2007 - First Weekend

3rd & 4th February 2007

This year, Devon County Amateur Swimming Association have included a new Junior Championship in all their events at the Devon County Championships. Cameron Brodie (14) of Kelly College, swimming in the 1500m freestyle, is the first swimmer ever to become a Junior Champion at the Devon County ASA Championships held at the Exe Valley Pool, Tiverton over the weekend of 3rd /4th February. Junior Champions have to be 15 and under at the competition. Cameron also was placed 2nd in the Championship 1500m freestyle and 1st in the 14 year age group.


David Hill (17), swimming in the 200m backstroke equalled his own British S9 Record and broke the European S9 Record with a time of 2.22.87.

Sophie Howe (15) was runner up in the 100m Butterfly Championship and also in her age group.

Victoria Cadge (100m fly), Joshua Lake (100m & 200m Breaststroke) and Fabian Whitbread (1500m free) were placed third in the Championships.

There were ten new Kelly College Swim Squad Age group records which were achieved by Rory Oxborough, Cameron Brodie, Saul Phillips(2), Sophie Howe, Victoria Cadge, Thomas Every, Matthew Stacey, Jeffery Hill and Daniel Kidwell.

The next round of the Devon Championships will be on Sunday 11th February at Exe Valley Pool, Tiverton.
