Following on from last weeks successful 4 day National Age Group Swimming Championships at Ponds Forge International Sporting Centre in Sheffield where Kelly College's Cameron Brodie set two new age group Scottish records in the 100m and 200m Butterfly, a further 13 Kelly College swimmers travelled to Sheffield who had qualified to take part in the 6 day ASA National & Youth Championships. Congratulations go to the Swim Squad and the Coaching Staff for an outstanding National's with every swimmer producing a personal best time in their main event. Ten swimmers made finals/semi-finals, with one other making a semi-final. Between the swimmers Kelly made a total of 10 finals in the youth category, 5 semi finals in the Senior Open category and a further 25 finals in the Disability category. Finalists:- Daniel Brown (1), Victoria Cadge (3), Claire Cashmore (6), Matthew Henry (2), David Hill (6), Jeffery Hill (2) Jan Langton (4), Jennifer Oldham (2), Sarah-Kate Timms (2), Louise Watkins (7). Semi-Finalists:- Holly Yeo (1), Jennifer Oldham (2), Victoria Cadge (1) In the Disability category, Claire Cashmore & Louise Watkins, between them set 5 new British records during the Meet. Claire took the (SB8) 50m and 100m breaststroke records, plus the 200m Individual Medley (S9) record and Louise (S9) broke the 100m and 400m freestyle and equaled the 50m breaststroke record. David Hill was back to fitness following a break for his A' level exams and produced his fastest time of the year in the 100m Backstroke and also went on to win gold in the 50m Fly. Jan Langton produced some outstanding personal best times and collected a silver medal in the 50m backstroke. Sarah-Kate Timms in her first National Championships representing Kelly also produced some very pleasing personal best times and qualified for 2 finals. Medalists were:- David Hill (1 gold, 2 bronze), Claire Cashmore (1 silver, 3 bronze), Jan Langton (1 silver), Louise Watkins (2 bronze). Kelly College Swim Squad records were also broken as follows:- Victoria Cadge (17 yrs):- 100m free and 100m breaststroke. Jennifer Oldham, Victoria Cadge and Holly Yeo, also broke School records, Jenny breaking her own school record for the 50m backstroke and Vicky breaking the 100m breaststroke and Holly the 200m breaststroke, both long standing records set in 1980 by former British Senior International swimmer Caroline Mason.
