On Saturday 6th February 12 Kelly Swim Squad members took part in the English Schools x-country County Championships at Gt. Torrington. The weather was perfect, but the ground was very challenging. A proper x-country course with deep, wet, mud, sticky, holding mud, and plenty of hills and camber to test even the hardiest of runners! After walking the course, everyone was already looking as though they had run the race! But no one was worried about what lay ahead, having worked and trained on the hills around Kelly all winter. All the races were very exciting and gave the spectators plenty to watch! Kelly College came away with, potentially, five runners having qualified to wear a Devon vest at the next round, the South West Champs, at Truro on 27th February. The year 7 boys race produced the best race of the day with Jordan Channon the overall winner, Harry Dunlop in 6th place and Josh Boon in 10th. Ellen Riis White was 7th in the intermediate girls race, and Christian Brown 11th in the inter boys. Congratulations to them and to everyone who took part.
