14th June 2010: The ASA South West Regional BAGCAT Championships first weekend took place 12th & 13th June at Millfield School, Somerset. Kelly College sent six swimmers, five girls and one boy, for this most important date in the calendar.

From the 19 swims over the weekend, 15 personal best times were recorded, two new Kelly College age group records, plus two gold and one bronze medals.

Molly Redford (13) took gold in both her events, the 400m free and the 200m Fly, leading in both events from the start to the finish. Molly is now preparing for the Scottish Nationals being held in Glasgow from 22nd to 27th June.

Victoria Moore (10), competing in her first District Championships produced personal best swims in all her events, in the 200m Backstroke by over 15 seconds, which gave her a new Kelly College 10 Year Age Group Record. Victoria reached the finals in three of her four events, placing 4th in the 100m Free, 5th in the 200m Backstroke and winning Bronze in the 400m Free with a very level headed mature swim, especially considering this was the first time that Victoria had swam this event in a 50 metre pool.

Ella Ellis (11) achieved PB's in all her three events, made the final of the 200m Fly, placing 4th and just missing her National Qualifying Time by 1.10 seconds, but breaking her own 11-yearold Kelly College Age Group Record.

Erin Walsh (13) made the 200m Backstroke final, where she placed 4th, producing personal best swims in the heats and final.

Daniel Gillard(12) produced two personal bests in the 200m Breaststroke heats and finals, placing 7th overall.

Sophie Hastings (13), swimming in her first event representing Kelly College, swam her way into the 100m Free final, where she placed 7th.

All the above swimmers, plus Victoria Callow and Melissa Murdoch will be competing next weekend at Millfield School in the second weekend of the Championships.
