
The final day of the City of Plymouth Annual Swim Meet took place on Saturday, 23rd October at Central Park Pools, Plymouth. Kelly College Swim Squad had 22 swimmers competing in what turned out to be a truly entertaining and exciting finale. Kelly swimmers produced 55 personal best times, broke 10 City of Plymouth records, and won 12 gold, 16 silver and 10 bronze medals, they also won 14 BAGCAT (British Age Group Categories) trophies.
Chloe Barrow (11) led the way for the girls with a first place in the BAGCATS, after placing 1st in the 50m fly, 200m free and the 800m free. The 11 year old girls was a very strong age group for Kelly as we also had swimmers placing 2nd Ella Ellis, 3rd Brittaney O’Reilly, 4th Millie Murdoch and 5th Victoria Moore in the BAGCATS.
Georgia Jones (12) and Victoria Callow (13) both picked up second place BAGCATS with Megan Bassett (12) placing 6th.
In the boys BAGCATS Dan Gillard(13) came 2nd with our younger boys, Tom Brew(9) and Ben Staig(11) achieving 3rd in the BAGCATS. Other placings were Nathan Linden (10) 4th, Jordan Channon (12) 4th and David Lloyd-Greame(13) 6th.
Eleven year old Brittaney O’Reilly swam her way into the Open 100m breaststroke Championship Final, with a personal best time of 1:28.09, where she placed 6th up against girls much older than herself.
Felix Davies(15) & Cameron Carpenter-Warren(17) both reached the final of the 100m freestyle Championships where Cameron won bronze and Felix placed 6th. Felix also won his age group in this event in a new record time.
Kelly College swimmers who broke City of Plymouth Annual Meet records on the last day are: Felix Davies(3), Cameron Carpenter-Warren(3), Oliver Lake(2), Chloe Barrow and Dan Gillard.
Medal winners for Kelly Swim Squad were Ben Staig, David Lloyd-Greame, Dan Gillard, Felix Davies, Oliver Lake, Jessamy Clemens, Chloe Barrow, Hannah Morris, Victoria Moore, Victoria Callow, Josh Carnell, Jordan Channon, Megan Bassett, Cameron Carpenter-Warren, Christy Gold, Millie Murdoch, Naomi Copperwait.
Also competing for Kelly were Caitlin Chapman, Beth Watmore, Emma Watmore, Nathan Linden, Caitie Clemens and Jack Morris and they all produced good personal best times.
