Josh Carnell (l) and Jordan Channon (r)

Sunday's race was the first of the South West Children's Triathlon Series. It was held at the famous Castle Combe Circuit ensuring a safe, traffic free duathlon. Jordan Channon and Josh Carnell, both pupils at Kelly College took part in this race. Jordan was the first to race in the Tristar 2 (11-12 years). He had a good 1.8 km run coming into transition in 1st place to then go out onto the race circuit for a 6 km bike ride. He then had a 600 metre run to finish and led from start to finish completing the race in a time of 23.26mins almost 3 minutes ahead of 2nd place.

Josh has just moved up this year into the very tough Youth category (age 15-16 years) where he came up against some very strong athletes. Josh started the race well and had a good 2 mile run and following a very quick transition headed out to the track for a 10 mile cycle. He then followed this by a further mile run to come well placed in 6th in a total time of 48.48 minutes which is an excellent achievement considering he has just stepped up to this level.
